Beauty Point: The oldest deepwater port in the area, it was developed to serve the nearby Beaconsfield gold mines. The town serves as a good starting point for exploring some of northern Tasmania's natural attractions. Beauty Point is the main teaching campus of the Australian Maritime College and is also the location of the start of the Australian Three Peaks Race, held each Easter. This endurance event involves sailing to three mountain ranges around Tasmania, then having a team of runners run up and down the mountain.

We were informed by the owners that this property was originally an apple orchard and the machine under the shelter is an original apple peeler and corer.
