December shaped up to be a very devistating month for Queensland. The rains came in bucket loads and hugh floods were experienced throughout Queensland. Many towns had to be evacuated and many many people had to be air lifted to safety.
Unfortunatly animals have lost thier lives. How sad and tragic to loose all your belongings and to come back to such a clean up of what is left behind.
One of the very sad stories reported on the news was that residents were devasted to have to leave their pets behind as the helicopters could not take them. In some cases the pets had to be put down. So very sad for pets and owners.
On a happier note, the last report was that over $8,000,000 has been raised to help the people who have lost so much. It was also heartening to hear that hugh corporations such as Origin Elecricity and Commonwealth Bank have donated $1.000.000 each to the appeal. I hope others, especially banks follow suit, after all they have made billions of dollars profit every year for that last few years.
We also must keep in mind that many many farmers have been devisted with these floods and most of the arears affected are the food bowel of Australia.
