The Passing of My Precious Sister and Best Friend

Sarina, our precious sister and best friend went to heaven on Tuesday 22nd February 2011.

The three of us were certainly very close. Owing to the fact that I am 10 years younger than Sarina and that Rosina and Sarina were much closer in age, it was only natural that they were extreamly close while I was growing up. The age gap was non existent as I grew up and we were three sisters that shared all our dreams and thoughts together.

A friend of mine reminded me that one of the sadest things about losing such a close family member was that they knew you so well and knew all about your life in every way and that loss is always so greatly felt. You lose part of who you are and you will never have a catch up again. I always saved my news so I could share it with both my sisters on our days together and would discuss the issue in great length. I always came away with a sense of satisfation that what was discussed was either shared with other family members of keep as our story alone.

Owing to Rosina and Sarina having their birthdays two days apart it was common to celebrate them together.

In 1991 Sarina was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nine years later she found out she had advanced breast cancer. Over the last ten years she showed great strength and courage, never complaining, throughout her constant and often gruelling treatments which resulted in debilitating side effects. Her oncologist confirmed that Sarina was her longest stage 4 cancer survivor, a testament to her tenacious strength.

Sarina was the epitome of a lady in every sense of the word. She unfailingly carried herself with grace and dignity. Her appreance was important to her. She would ensure that no matter how ill she felt she would make every effort to look the best she could. Her hair was her pride and joy, and her daughter Dianna was required to ensure she did not go to church with grey roots.

Sarina and her husband Tullio have three beautiful daughters and an angle daughter in heaven. She also had three beautiful grandchildren who were the loves of her life.

Sarina will always be remembered for her strength, courage, kindness, generosity, grace and love.

You have inspired so many of us with your courage.

We will miss you dearly.
